CS Closed Class Override Request Form

THIS FORM IS ONLY FOR CLOSED CLASS OVERRIDE REQUESTS FOR CS COURSES.
If you have a request for a different type of override, please use the correct form.

  • We will not accept closed class override requests in any other format. You must use this form. You will need to complete one form for each course override request. This form does not support multiple requests.
  • Overrides due to employment/work schedule conflicts or for convenience will not be granted.
  • Please do not call/email the office to check on the status of your request. You will be notified through your Texas State email once the request has been processed. Please allow at least 24-48 hours for processing requests. Some special cases may require a longer processing time.
  • An approved override does not constitute automatic enrollment. You must log in and register through CatsWeb.
  • Falsifying information on this form is a violation of the Texas State University Honor Code.

Note that closed class overrides are not standard practice. For undergraduate level courses, the department utilizes the waitlist function on the registration system. Only in extremely extenuating circumstances will a closed class override be considered.

  • All undergraduate CS lecture courses, except for CS 1428, have a waitlist. If a course has a waitlist, place yourself on it. If a spot opens on the waitlist and you are the next in line, you will receive an email from the registration system and you are allowed 24 hours to register.
  • We often set our max seat enrollment limits to the same limit as the allowable maximum capacity of the room. We must adhere to these limits due to safety regulations.
  • If a waitlist is full, please keep checking the enrollment on CatsWeb for openings. Seats may become available after processing for nonpayment, drops for prerequisite deficiencies, or schedule changes, etc.
  • If you are a graduating senior or graduate student, you must specifically state your case and explain why the course was not added on the 1st day of your registration access period.
