BobCat Innovation Accelerator Award

A Bobcat Innovation Accelerator award was granted to CS faculty member, Dr. Anirrudha Bora, for his project TrashFormer — RL-Based Smart Waste Collection. Dr. Bora lead the project along with students: Arjun Gyawali (CS) and Pawan Pradhan (Mechanical engineering).

TrashFormer uses offline reinforcement learning (built on our FORDS framework) to optimize waste collection routing and scheduling. The framework also extends to precision irrigation and predictive maintenance.

BobCat Innovation Challenge Pitch Competition 

Dr. Anirrudha Bora and his team won the 2nd prize in the Bobcat Innovation Challenge Pitch Competition, organized by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship held on Saturday, April 11th, 2016.

The team pitched their technology Noema-Laser, which is a closed-loop, self-regulating laser platform for clinical indications, bringing together scientific reinforcement learning with rigorous validation.
