Dr. Islam has been selected as the 2026 Emerging Woman Leader in Technical Computing by the Association for Computing Machinery’s Special Interest Group on High Performance Computing. She will be presented the award at SC26, the HPC community’s premier annual conference this November.

SC is the largest annual gathering in the field of high-performance computing (HPC), bringing together about 18,000 people from universities, national laboratories, government, and major technology companies.

This year, two recipients were chosen for their distinct contributions to HPC. Dr. Olga Pearce, Dr. Islam’s long-term collaborator, will also be receiving the award this fall.

Tanzima is honored for sustained technical excellence in HPC and for a rare depth of leadership in research, mentoring, and community building. Olga is honored for transformative contributions to HPC software infrastructure and benchmarking, including production tools now embedded in national missions and used widely across the field.
