Recruiting Guidelines
To allow our students the opportunity to make informed decisions when evaluating a job or internship offer, TXST has created the following guidelines. These guidelines are intended to help both students and employers manage the offering process and to align with our peer institutions. We ask that employers hiring our students honor the timelines outlined below.
Fall:
- Deadline for Return Offers: Students must have until October 15 or two weeks after a return offer is made (whichever is later) to make a decision. Return offers include internships to full-time hires.
- Deadlines for New Offers:
- Offers made before October 1: Students must have until October 15 or four weeks from offer date (whichever is later).
- Offers made after October 1: Students must have until October 31 or two weeks from offer date (whichever is later).
Spring:
- For spring offers for the following summer or fall semesters: Students must have 2 weeks from offer date.
- For spring offers that start in the following calendar year: Offers should follow fall return guidelines.
General Guidance
To Employers: We recommend being flexible in granting offer extensions on a case-by-case basis if the circumstances warrant it.
To Students: We encouraged you to contact employers directly if you have any questions or concerns about your offer, including needing more time to make the decisions. Students are NOT REQUIRED to wait until these deadlines and may accept an offer at any time.
Exploding Offers
TXST expects employers to withhold from practices such as exploding offers. Students should not feel pressured to accept offers “on the spot” or within a quick or unreasonable turnaround time.
