Computer Science Department Scholarships
All applications are available through the BOSS Scholarship System only.

Computer Science Scholarship
Funds distributed from this endowment shall be used to make awards possible for undergraduate and graduate students in the Computer Science Department.

Don and Helen Cude Computer Science Endowed Scholarship
Purpose:
To honor Don Cude, alumnus and former mathematics professor and chairman at then Southwest Texas State University, and his wife, Helen Ebeling Cude, both of whom were public school teachers; to reward outstanding students in the fields of mathematics and computer science. This specific scholarship is for Computer Science students.Criteria for selection:
- Computer Science major
- Must not have previously received an award from this endowment
- Priority to students teaching computer science teacher certification
- Full-time enrollment
- Good standing with the university
- 3.00 Texas State GPA or higher
- Awards will be made on the basis of academic merit, leadership, and intellectual promise

Harold Sellars Endowment
The Harold Sellars Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship. The recipients are chosen by the Department of Computer Science Scholarship Committee.
Students must have a Texas State GPA of 3.50 or higher and at least 15 hours of coursework completed in Computer Science.

José M. Mayorga Scholarship in Computer Science and Biology
José M. Mayorga earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and biology, as well as a master’s degree in Information Technology. This scholarship is dedicated to José M. Mayorga in recognition of his generosity, support, and unwavering belief in the power of education.
José M. Mayorga Scholarship in Computer Science and Biology is a passthrough scholarship over 5 years, giving out $1,500 each fall and spring semester for a total of $3,000 each year. Distributions from the fund shall be used to award scholarships to undergraduate student(s) pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Biology at Texas State University using the below criteria. Applicants are required to write an essay prompt describing a time when the candidate was helped by someone else and how that impacted their life in 500 words or less.
